Golfing in MidCoast Council

Spanning the Mid North Coast and the Hunter hinterland, MidCoast has nine courses, all public, ranging from resort tests to relaxed holiday nines. Tallwoods is the most dramatic: a Dr Michael Hurdzan design with severe elevation changes, greens set in little amphitheatres, water and tall eucalypts, and views over the treetops to the ocean. Hawks Nest is an all-weather 18 whose ongoing improvements are guided by Craig Parry, a tree-lined, easy-walking course with quick greens amid bushland and wildlife. Club Taree dates from 1915, and Forster Tuncurry is a seaside par 68 whose first six holes run beside One Mile Beach. Bulahdelah, at the gateway to the Myall Lakes, offers another full round. The nine-holers are Harrington Waters beside the Manning River, Gloucester beneath the Bucketts, Stroud overlooking its valley, and the Sandbar holiday park course near Smiths Lake.
