Golfing in Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council
Golf was first recorded around Queanbeyan on 12 August 1896, and the council's two public courses today offer a town round and a country one on the Southern Tablelands just south-east of Canberra. Queanbeyan Golf Club, known locally as the QGC, plays an 18-hole par-72 parkland in Queanbeyan East, within walking distance of the town centre. Its tree-lined fairways have a quiet, open feel for a course so close to the city, and the clubhouse deck overlooking the 18th green is a popular place to finish. Braidwood Golf Course, run by the Braidwood Servicemen's Club, is a nine-hole country round with a good mix of long and short holes and open views across the parkland, followed by a cold drink on the big deck above the fairways.
