Golfing in Shoalhaven City Council
With ten public courses spread through the South Coast's beaches, lakes and bush, the Shoalhaven is made for a golf road trip. Shoalhaven Heads leads the way, a Ken McKay links-style layout by the sea, opened in 1981 and regarded as one of the best on the South Coast, with undulating fairways and awkward lies. Mollymook Golf Club offers two contrasting rounds: Hilltop (1977), a long par-73 of tree-lined doglegs through bushland, and the shorter oceanfront Beachside. Kangaroo Valley is a Jack Newton-designed stay-and-play retreat among rolling hills, with dams on several holes. Around Nowra, Worrigee Links offers wide fairways and plenty of sand, while Nowra itself has tees carved into the escarpment above the river. St Georges Basin, hilltop Vincentia, kangaroo-filled Callala Beach and the Sussex Inlet nine-holer complete the coastal circuit.
