Golfing in The Hills Shire Council

The Hills Shire stretches from the M2 out to Wisemans Ferry on the Hawkesbury, and its two courses sit at opposite ends of the golfing spectrum. Castle Hill Country Club at Norwest is the heavyweight, a private members' club whose first nine holes opened in 1951. Its par-72 championship course has long been ranked among Australia's top 100 and has hosted both the Australian PGA Championship and the NSW Open. Expect immaculately presented fairways, a great deal of bunkering and large, quick greens that demand sharp club selection and a precise short game. At the shire's northern tip, Wisemans Ferry is a public par-69 country course with mountain views and an unhurried, easygoing feel, the kind of place golfers happily return to for a social round in the river country.
