Golfing in Fraser Coast Regional Council
The Fraser Coast's six public courses suit both a serious round and a relaxed holiday hit. Maryborough Golf Club, laid out by Daniel Soutar in 1927 and updated by John Burley in 1986, is the region's longest-established club, a par-72 parkland with around 50 bunkers to navigate. Hervey Bay Golf Club at Pialba dates from 1945 and plays to par 70 over mostly flat ground, with multiple tees, true-running greens and kangaroos lounging beside the fairways. Craignish has two courses: the parkland at the Country Club Hotel, as well known for its bistro as its golf, and the easygoing Fraser Lakes. Burrum District at Howard runs nine greens with alternate tees for a full 18 among dams and trees, and Boonooroo is a par-56 par-3 layout with camping on site.
