Golfing in Barunga West Council
Where the Mid North meets the top of the Yorke Peninsula, golf in Barunga West is a simple, sociable affair: two towns, two public 18-hole country courses. Port Broughton Golf Club, founded in 1913, sits out on Fisherman Bay Road and runs three sand-green courses, a summer, a winter and an orange executive layout, so there is a game on whatever the season. It has a friendly, laid-back coastal-country feel, well suited to a relaxed round away from the city. Bute Golf Club serves the council's second town with a par-70 course and an easygoing atmosphere where visitors quickly get talking to the locals. Neither is about championship golf; both are about the round, the company and the clubhouse afterwards, which is exactly the appeal for travelling golfers.
