Golfing in District Council of Mount Remarkable
Between the top of Spencer Gulf and the foot of the Southern Flinders Ranges, golf in Mount Remarkable is low-key country fare, and both courses are open to anyone. Wirrabara Golf Course is the bigger test: a full 18-hole, par-72 layout on sand greens, with hilly, undulating fairways that make players work for their score. It is at its best when rain has greened up the fairways and can turn hard and parched through the hot, dry months, so time a visit accordingly. Booleroo Centre Golf Club, dating from 1960, is a public nine-holer with sand greens on the Murraytown road, set against the ranges on the edge of town. It is more about a relaxed social round and a friendly clubhouse than a serious examination, and suits travellers wanting an easy hit in classic Mid North surroundings.
