Golfing in Latrobe City Council
Built around Moe, Morwell, Traralgon and Churchill in the Latrobe Valley, Latrobe offers solid regional parkland golf, and all six courses take public players. Traralgon dates from 1904, a scenic, friendly layout with narrow fairways and a clubhouse balcony overlooking the 18th. Morwell, from 1908, is a championship parkland course of undulating fairways that rewards accurate approaches, and its clubhouse was made from two halves of a house from the old Yallourn township. Yallourn Golf Club, on the eastern fringe of Moe, has marked its centenary and plays beneath views of Mt Baw Baw, while Moe Golf Club's flat, gum-lined fairways look out to Lake Narracan. Toongabbie is a flat, walkable 18-hole country course kept by volunteers, and Churchill & Monash a well-presented nine-holer rolling over varied elevations.
