Golfing in City of Stirling
Perth's northern suburbs, from Mount Lawley out to the beaches at Scarborough and Trigg, carry a deep golf tradition: three of Stirling's four courses date from 1928. Lake Karrinyup Country Club is a private club whose championship course was designed by Alex Russell, who briefly partnered Alister MacKenzie; it routes around its lake over rolling, dune-like ground, with wide strategic fairways and notably quick greens. Mount Lawley in Inglewood is also members-only, a par-73 parkland test defined by its greens and bunkering rather than water. The Western Australian Golf Club at Dianella, a par-73 championship course, is open to the public, with narrow tree-lined fairways, a Tudor clubhouse and city views from the elevated 12th. Hamersley in Karrinyup, run by the City, is the tight, tree-lined public 18.
