Golfing in Armidale Regional Council

Up on the Northern Tablelands, Armidale's golf is country parkland at its most honest: two public 18-hole courses, both playing to par 73. Armidale Golf Club, a short distance from the city, is an undulating layout of a little over 5,900 metres whose greens are regularly rated among the best in regional NSW, though its fairways can play soft after rain. Guyra Golf Course, roughly midway between Armidale and Glen Innes, is set around Mother of Ducks Lagoon, where tree lines rather than sharply cut fairways guide you round and the water lends the round an easygoing charm. Its clubhouse was officially opened in June 1925, and the small-club welcome remains. Together they make a relaxed tablelands double for travelling golfers who rate good greens above glamour.
