Golfing in City of Ryde
On the north bank of the Parramatta River, about 13 kilometres north-west of the Sydney CBD, Ryde's two courses split neatly by access. North Ryde Golf Club is the one visitors can book: an 18-hole, par-69 members' course that welcomes public players seven days a week, with golf at North Ryde going back to 1937. Its mostly open, gently undulating fairways and well-kept greens make it a comfortable, well-conditioned escape within metropolitan Sydney, with plenty of bunkers to keep the short par honest. Ryde-Parramatta at Melrose Park is a private club whose par-72 parkland was redesigned by Ross Watson. Archer Creek and several water hazards bring strategy into the round, rewarding members who can plot their way around rather than simply overpower it.
