Golfing in Livingstone Shire Council
Livingstone's golf belongs to the Capricorn Coast, the seaside strip north and east of Rockhampton around Yeppoon, and all three courses are public 18-hole, par-72 layouts. Yeppoon Golf Club at Barmaryee, near the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, is not long but plays tight, with out of bounds and water to manage, smooth two-tier greens and mobs of grey kangaroos for company. The resort course at Farnborough, now Mercure Capricorn Resort, is a Karl Litten design from 1992 whose championship back tees stretch it out; it is an older, quieter course where you can often have the fairways to yourself. Emu Park Golf Club bills itself as one of the friendliest clubs in Australia, pairing a gentler front nine with a hillier, longer back nine and an elevated-tee par-5 17th that invites a big drive.
