Golfing in Central Highlands Regional Council

Central Highlands golf is country golf on a big scale: five public 18-hole layouts spread across a district centred on Emerald, with the foothills of Carnarvon National Park to the south and the Blackdown Tableland to the east. Emerald Golf Club serves the regional centre with a par-71 course that offers several tee options, from forward tees that keep things approachable to blue tees that provide a sterner test, and it holds up well after heavy rain. Blackwater, Tieri and Capella are spread through the north and east, where mining is strongest; they are unpretentious community clubs where the welcome and the clubhouse meals count for as much as the fairways. Springsure, at par 74, anchors the agricultural south and has won praise for greens rated among the best in the region.
