Golfing in Southern Downs Regional Council
Along Queensland's southern border, taking in the Granite Belt, the Southern Downs offers four public courses with a cool-climate, country feel. Warwick Golf Course, dating from 1924, is the main club: an 18-hole parkland over undulating, hilly ground, well presented and friendly, with weekly competitions open to visitors and motorised carts a popular choice. In Stanthorpe, the course on Amosfield Road plays over gently sloping ground and is a member-run club known for immaculate bent-grass greens and open fairways, a relaxed, scenic round with a reputation as one of the friendliest in the region. Killarney and Wallangarra are 18-hole country courses for an easygoing game; Wallangarra, in the border town of the same name, plays to par 73 and has a clubhouse that serves as the social hub before and after a round.
