Golfing in Gannawarra Shire Council
In the river country of northern Victoria around Kerang, Cohuna and Koondrook, Gannawarra's golf is relaxed and old-school, and all four courses are open to the public. Cohuna Golf and Bowls Club is the most distinctive, set among red gums with creek frontage on Australia's largest inland island, where kangaroos and Murray River birdlife share the fairways. It plays flat and gently undulating, with corridors of mature gums as its main defence and greens that earn steady praise. Kerang Golf and Bowls Club dates from 1908 and offers an irrigated parkland course with grass greens and a routing that rewards planning, along with a sociable Friday gathering. The full 18-hole country courses at Murrabit and Lalbert round out a quiet, unhurried golfing district.
