Golfing in Horsham Rural City Council
Horsham sits at the centre of the Wimmera's wheat and wool district, and its golf pairs one well-groomed regional course with a set of honest bush layouts, all five of them public. Horsham Golf Club at Haven is the senior club, founded in 1898 in a paddock owned by the Langlands family. Its well-bunkered 18 holes reward accuracy over length, and visitors are often surprised by fairways and greens presented to a standard they liken to Melbourne's Sandbelt, along with a strong set of par 3s. Natimuk's course at Arapiles winds through the bush beneath Mt Arapiles on sand greens, rustic and full of character. Toolondo, another undulating sand-greens course, Drung, a full 18-hole par-71, and the short Pimpinio layout round out a list built for relaxed, unfussy golf.
