Golfing in Yarriambiack Shire Council
Grain country through and through, Yarriambiack spreads across the Wimmera and Mallee, and all eight of its courses are public. Warracknabeal's 18 holes pair grass greens with lush fairways, the most conventional round in the shire. Hopetoun, founded in 1897, is an 18-hole sand-scrape course among wildflowers and visiting kangaroos that plays from March to September, and its volunteers are known for feeding visiting groups generously. Murtoa is the sleeper: a testing country layout routed so that each hole feels secluded from the rest, though its greens lean on rainfall in dry spells. Minyip is another scrapes course, Rupanyup, Brim and Sheep Hills keep small-town golf alive across the wheat belt, and Woomelang offers a par-36 nine of about 2,850 metres for a quick loop. Expect unhurried rounds and a warm welcome.
