Golfing in Fairfield City Council
In Sydney's south-west, Fairfield's three courses each have their own story. Cabramatta Golf Club, dating from 1947, is a members' club that welcomes visitors and bills itself as the most social golf club in Sydney, but the golf stands up too: a parkland test with water features, a mix of demanding and more forgiving holes, near-perfect fairways and greens that run fast while still holding high approaches. Oak Point at Lansvale is a 1971 Robert Green layout, home to a club formed by the amalgamation of Kogarah and Liverpool golf clubs. Open to the public, it is a par 72 of 6,300 metres where 52 bunkers call for strategic shot-making. Fairfield City Golf Course at Prairiewood, beside the showground, is the relaxed public option, an 18-hole parkland course built around fun, fitness and friendly competition.
