Golfing in Barcaldine Regional Council

Out in the cattle country of central west Queensland, Barcaldine's three courses are all public and all about authentic outback golf. Barcaldine Golf Club is the one most visitors find first, an 18-hole course with well-kept sand greens and an open, spacious layout that gives the round a big-sky feel, backed by a warm country welcome. Alpha also has 18 holes, playing to par 70 over sand fairways, and its club runs a bar and kitchen whose meals and outdoor seating make it as much a social stop as a golfing one. Muttaburra is the smallest of the trio, a par-72 nine-holer that rewards travellers willing to venture off the main roads for an unhurried round. Expect sand, space and a friendly reception rather than manicured turf.
