Golfing in Northern Midlands Council
In Tasmania's fine-wool country between Launceston Airport and the historic towns of the south, both courses are public and both offer easy, good-value country rounds. Longford Golf Club, established in 1899, is five minutes from the heart of historic Longford and plays as a par-71 parkland course. Its generous, mostly straight fairways and forgiving rough suit higher handicappers, while doglegs, water, bunkers and out of bounds keep better players honest, and a long par-5 second is an early test. It is well worth the drive from Launceston. Campbell Town Golf Club, founded in 1923, is a nine-hole, par-70 course laid out on a former racecourse, with long, flat fairways, dual tees for a full round, greens that impress for a country course and a protected orchid species on site.
