Golfing in City of Greater Bendigo
Bendigo's region offers eight public courses and plenty of choice. Bendigo Golf Club at Ascot, which opened in August 1901 as a six-hole course, is now a tree-lined parkland 18 with true-rolling greens and kangaroos around the outer holes. Belvoir Park at Ravenswood (1947) is the hilly one, cut into the Big Hill ranges with a scenic par-3 11th. Heathcote (1928), a Harold Cates layout in wine country, pairs wide fairways with testing greens, while Axedale, a Kevin Hartley design from 1973, runs beside the Campaspe River among red gums and rewards accuracy over length. Neangar Park at Eaglehawk adds narrow, well-drained parkland golf plus a driving range and pitch and putt, Marong (1920) offers no-bookings bush golf on sand greens, and Quarry Hill and Elmore complete the list.
