Golfing in Pyrenees Shire Council
Among the Pyrenees Ranges of western Victoria, in old gold, farming and wine country between Ballarat and Stawell, the golf is small-town and community-run, and all four courses are public. The Beaufort Golf / Bowls Club and Avoca Country Golf Club each have 18 holes, at par 71 and 72. Beaufort is the place for a quiet, uncrowded round, often with the course nearly to yourself and kangaroos for company, while local volunteers keep the food and hospitality warm. Avoca offers an unhurried country round in town. Lexton runs an 18-hole par-71 course with alternate greens, admired for both how it looks and how it plays, plus spacious new club rooms. Snake Valley has a nine-holer, a compact par-35 suited to a quick game or a casual second loop.
