Golfing in Western Downs Regional Council
Western Downs is big, open farming and energy country run from Dalby, and every one of its seven courses is open to the public. Dalby Golf Club, established in 1926, leads the way: named Queensland Golf Club of the Year (under 400 members) in 2021, it is a friendly, well-kept par-72 18 with a full-length driving range and a dog-leg par-4 15th. Chinchilla, dating from 1928, is a nine-hole parkland just west of town on the Warrego Highway, with irrigated, tree-lined fairways that demand straight hitting and grass greens that visitors rave about. The rest are 18-hole country courses at Jandowae, Miles, Condamine, Bell and Inglestone, relaxed regional rounds where travellers are made welcome; Jandowae adds camping and a sociable clubhouse bar.
