Golfing in Knox City Council
All three of Knox's courses are in Rowville, in Melbourne's outer east, so the choice comes down to style rather than location. Waverley, the Rowville course of the Churchill Waverley Golf Club, dates from 1926 and is a members' club that welcomes visitors: rolling parkland with some steep climbs to elevated greens, a mix of narrow and wider fairways and patches of remnant bush in its roughs. Rowville Lakes opened in 1978 as the nine-hole Tirhatuan Park and is now a public 18, a shady, good-value parkland round with lakes in play that suits all levels and gets busy on weekends. Waterford Valley is a public course designed by Phil Ryan with owner Gary Thompson, a long, lush layout with risk-and-reward par 4s, plenty of water and an island-green finishing hole.
